Workers group meeting
In the Salem disrtict most of the women from rural communities mainly depend on daily work of spinning mills in the district. there above 180 spinning mills in the district. the employers appoint the women worker for very low wages. they are highly exploited. the have no any social security schemes. To give awareness to these poor worker, the village level worker groups were formed. about 2000 women workers were organised as 20 women worker groups in this district. the group meeting are conducted regularly to give awareness on the minimum wage act, worker rights and gender based discrimination. They passed resolutions and submit the demands to the respective department officials.
