Education – Right to Development
According to UN sustainable development goals, every child has right to go school and complete their education without any discrimination based on gender, caste or socio-economic status. Education lays the foundation of every child’s development. It helps them develop a healthy character and recognize their talents and opportunities. It provides them with fundamental knowledge and paves the way for a career. Educated people are every nation’s most important asset; they drive economic as well as cultural development.
In the end a good quality education has the potential to improve individuals’ quality of living, increase their economic opportunities and help stabilize their communities. Also the children are the pillars of our nation’s future. They can become our scientist, doctors, politicians, sportspeople, journalists and teachers of tomorrow. This is why the rural women Development trust aims to provide the best educational opportunities for our children – so they can reach their full potential.
CHILDREN KNOWLEDGE CENTERS
The children dropped out from the schools and work as child labourer or bonded labourer because of poverty and illiteracy of their families. They are most vulnerable for trafficking and sexual abuse at work places. To prevent drop outs and encourage them to go schools we are conducting regular evening special coaching centers in Dalit Arunthathiyar villages. Here the children from the age 5-17 years are taught by educated volunteers from the same villages are neighbourhood villages. We teach them awareness songs, games, general knowledge, Spoken English and school subjects.
Presently we are conducting the Children Knowledge centers in 27 villages. About 1500 children are benefitted through these centers.
KALPNA CHAWLA – GIRL CHILDREN EDUCATION PROJECT
Rural Women Development Trust, with the objective of educating underprivileged girls in Salem district of India. The project was incepted against the backdrop of spiralling population growth rate, low female literacy level and low female workforce participation. In addition, social issues such as child marriage and child labour were common place in many parts of India, especially rural areas.
RWDT believes that there was a strong correlation between the prevalent societal evils in India such as superstitions, dowry deaths, caste system, and the fact that girls were not educated. RWDT believed that if girls were educated, they would contribute not only to the economic development of the country but also lay the foundation for a more just and equal society. This has been corroborated by the World Bank several times with their latest 2018 report, stating that limited educational opportunities for girls and barriers to complete 12 years of education, cost countries between $15 trillion and $30 trillion in lost lifetime productivity and earnings. Investment in girls’ education has a transformational impact on their earnings and standard of living. This, in turn, leads to lower fertility rates and child marriage as well as better health and nutrition for the entire family, thereby building social capital.
With this objective of positively impacting India’s development by educating girls and encouraging Indians to contribute to a worthy cause, EDUCATE GIRL CHILDREN Project was designed as a sponsorship program, wherein individuals and corporates could participate by sponsoring girls’ education for a minimum period of a year.

CHILDREN PARLIAMENTS
We also formed children parliaments (children clubs) in the Children knowledge center villages. This is useful for children to know the basic needs and rights of the children. Also it will support to explore the talents of the children and raise them as responsible citizen. The children were given awareness on environmental problems and they were formed green clubs to develop consciousness to the community about environmental issues.
